The 2026 Washington legislative session ran from January 12 through March 12. During this time, lawmakers considered budgets, new programs, and laws that affect government services, public health and safety, education, housing, transportation, jobs, and more.

Twenty‑five years ago this month, the magnitude 6.8 Nisqually earthquake struck the Puget Sound region, shaking the area for more than 40 seconds and causing several billion dollars in damage.

Washington has expanded the telebupe hotline statewide. Anyone age 13 or older can talk with trained emergency physicians who can prescribe buprenorphine to ease withdrawal and support recovery. The hotline is free and available every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 206-289-0287.
